Beacontree Kitchen Renovation
2018 MHBA Renomark Awards - Silver Award - Kitchen Renovation
Main floor renovation through total interior design transformation
Our client on Beacontree Street came to us with a simple request – open plan floor space with a newly remodeled kitchen. We’ve completed hundreds of renovations similar. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. In fact, this sounded like our preferred type of kitchen remodel.
Our design / build and interior design sense comes into play
Tyson, Hammerdown’s principal, sets up an appointment with the homeowner to review the job site. This meeting is for planning and budget estimation purposes. Upon arrival, he realizes just how much fun this renovation will be. The client has an existing wall to remove. This requires a complete reconfiguration of the space. Hammerdown’s team lives for this type of home renovation: a design-build remodel. The renovation allows us to put our interior designer to work, to create the perfect space.
Let’s get this kitchen renovation started!
First, we tore down the partitioning wall between the kitchen and living room. This gave the space that open plan feel that our client craved. Using the plans our interior designer created, we went to work re-wiring the main floor to match the re-configurations. Carefully planning during our design / build consultation, gave us the key insights we need to know to light the space with elegance. LED pot lighting was installed throughout the kitchen and living room. Additional under-cabinet LED lighting was added to the kitchen. We selected a rugged, yet luxurious, vinyl tile floor was placed down giving a balance of comfort while walking and standing on it and ease of maintenance to the home. And like it was no big deal, our floor plan placed an island in the kitchen, increasing the functionality of the kitchen tenfold.
Pushing the kitchen remodel forward
Rolling right along, we installed bright white quartz countertops speckled with a dusting of grey details, which give the room a brilliant shine without overpowering. Heightening the contrast, the kitchen cabinetry was painted a custom color, really setting off the kitchen’s style and appeal.

This kitchen remodel was taking shape and it was time to add the finishing touches. The details our interior design expertise adds can really push the wow factor of our work forward. This time around was no exception; bright backsplash, dual tone contrasting colored cabinetry, frosted glass cupboard doors with matching frosted glass lighting fixture covers, a wine-serving and storing station, beautiful accents and cabinet hardware, and stainless appliances… the list could go on-and-on.
As the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words – and we have 14 photos showcasing our stunning design-build kitchen remodel and main floor renovation on Beacontree Street, Winnipeg’s River Park South neighborhood.
