This design-build renovation was for an older home, a couple decades old, beautiful, but also what we in the biz call ‘builder grade,’ meaning basic or no-frills. Amongst the client’s requests was to open the kitchen up and remove some awkward angles. We achieved this during the kitchen renovation by doing two things:

  1. We removed the pantry wall that was dividing the space.
  2. We reconfigured the layout to create a focal point in the new gas range, as well as a large island, resulting in not only more and better space, but also ample storage.

Next, we went to work upgrading the ensuite with a bathroom renovation. The client now has a free-standing tub, tiled shower, and subtle wall paneling, as well, we achieved a refresh of the existing cabinets by updating the vanity’s fixtures. We transformed the bathroom to a level befitting a luxury hotel room— say goodbye to ‘builder grade’!
