When starting their journey to renovate their basement, our clients knew they wanted a show-stopping design that combined comfort and style.

The large, open space had plenty of square footage to work with, but with no designated zones, it looked cluttered and needed to be more inviting. The rest of their home was beautifully decorated, and they wanted their basement to match.

Designing for our client’s needs by dividing the space

To put the space to work for us, we started to divide the basement into five distinct zones –

• Cozy entertainment area with sectional and TV
• Stunning wet bar for hosting friends and family
• A home gym with room for large workout equipment
• A basement bathroom with a walk-in, tiled glass shower enclosure
• And finally, an infrared sauna – perfect for relaxing after a long workout or day

Our client loved the idea of having so much functionality incorporated into their basement space. Once we finished the basement renovation, it became a multi-use space where they could relax, gather, workout, or unwind. It felt like a continuation of their main living space – and brought so much value into their home.

Art Deco design brings luxury and fun

While the basement renovation levelled up the usability of the space, our team’s efforts continued.

Bold and dramatic Art Deco interior design choices combined with calming details like the circular glowing lights, custom-tile faux-brick, and warm, natural wood grain vinyl plank give this basement renovation a serene feeling.

The entertainment and wet bar space features a deep teal/blue palette accented with teak wood-inspired panelling for a custom look. The custom bartop’s archways and curves reflect a different era but ooze classic appeal. The centrepiece is a dark-stained natural wood arch with open shelves sitting atop a custom tile backsplash that is spotlighted to show off the homeowner’s spirit collection.

Each square foot of the space is tastefully decorated to vibe with the Art Deco design choices but still retains a clean and modern visual. Pops of colour are brought into the space with furniture, décor, and artwork selections. Then, multiple layers of warm, glowing light shine over the entire space, making it feel extremely inviting and comfortable.

Other features of this basement renovation

To round out the features, the home gym is hidden behind two shimmering sliding barn doors. The basement bathroom renovation includes a walk-in shower encased in glass and tile work that carries the art deco-inspired design style. The sauna features many different light modes, and even the ventilation adds symmetry and style with custom covers.

No details were overlooked in this basement renovation, which was paramount to creating a multi-use, coordinated space that is luxurious and fun.
