We enjoyed creating this high-contrast kitchen renovation for a lovely returning client – the dual bathroom renovation, Trek!

Our client loves contemporary style with a touch of transitional elements

Our client came to us with her preferred interior design style – for the space to feel bold and contemporary but to incorporate a touch of transitional style. That made perfect sense to us as we rolled up our sleeves and got to work.

Opening a smaller space for better flow and interaction

To start the kitchen renovation, we removed a section of the wall that divided the condominium to make way for a large peninsula. With the wall down, the space is open with direct sight lines from the living room, allowing for better interaction with guests. The large peninsula we installed provides guests with a spot to pull up a seat and sample the delights from the kitchen. The new kitchen configuration makes for better hosting and essentially doubles our client’s countertop and storage space!

The kitchen remains incredibly functional even though the space is a tad smaller than some of the detached homes we work on. As part of our interior design efforts, we drafted built-in organization for pots and pans that easily slides out, so everything is within reach, a spice, oils, and condiment drawer – and perhaps our favourite – the cabinet above the peninsula that features space for cookbooks along with a wine rack!

Kitchen renovation featuring contrast from top to bottom

Large format luxury vinyl tile from Fuzion Flooring in Brimstone on the floor pairs perfectly with the dark charcoal quartz Vicostone- Satinet countertop. The bevelled white subway tile backsplash installed in a vertically stacked pattern is a modern play on a tile that will remain timeless.

The contrast continues with the cabinets showcasing matte black hardware and sleek low-profile handles on the combination finish shaker door. The cabinets are offered in two flavours – painted decorator’s white for the uppers and cappuccino-stained maple bases – giving the perfect final touch on this contemporary meets transitional kitchen renovation.

Our client absolutely loves their condominium kitchen renovation and couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
